Do you know the most stylish person in York?
Does your best friend always look beautiful? Do you have a devastatingly dapper dad? Perhaps yours is the mum with the most? Is your sister a sartorial stunner?
Maude & Tommy owner Anne McCrickard is celebrating ten years in retail in the city with a quest to find our most stylish citizen.
“After a decade selling clothes to the brilliant people of York, I know exactly what a stylish bunch we are,” explained Anne, “But who’s the most stylish? That’s what I want to know now.
“In keeping with Maude & Tommy’s ‘slow fashion’ philosophy, this competition isn’t about being the youngest or the skinniest or the most buff. This is about celebrating genuine personal style, in all its shapes, sizes and glorious colours. We want to reward anyone who puts a little extra magic into their outfits – from the beautiful to the bonkers!”
The slow fashion philosophy is a world away from the fast fashion that dominates our High Streets. It’s a reaction to the pile ‘em high, sell ‘em cheap thinking that creates an industry based on exploited and underpaid workers.
Slow fashion puts the focus back on timeless styles, made in ethical conditions and with sustainable materials.
